MOSCOW, April 1 (RIA Novosti) – Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency has today re-launched its English-language newswire service (RIAN News Service) and launched a new Spanish wire service (Servicio de Noticias Novosti). The agency will present global events in a new format, focusing on exclusive news and in-depth analysis, according to Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan.
“These newswires will focus on major international and regional events,” said Dmitry Gornostayev, head of the Main Information Department at Rossiya Segodnya. “We will draw subscribers to the most important events. The Russian, English and Spanish newswires will work to offer as much exclusive information and breaking news as possible. We will highlight the issues that our foreign colleagues do not cover but which are important to consumers.”
The Spanish newswire will be an alternative source of information for Spanish speaking subscribers who have no correspondents in Russia or other countries.
“The Spanish information service will work 12 hours a day until June, publishing between 50 and 80 news items daily, and it will later increase its output,” said Miguel Bas, head of the agency’s Spanish service. “We plan to publish up to 300 news items a day when we start working around the clock, including news supplied from our information hubs in Latin America and Spain.”
