Federalization supporters in Ukraine’s Donetsk Region are ready to exchange prisoners, but negotiations are not going well, one of the leaders of the People's Republic of Donetsk told RIA Novosti.

SLAVIANSK, May 6 (RIA Novosti) – Federalization supporters in Ukraine’s Donetsk Region are ready to exchange prisoners, but negotiations are not going well, one of the leaders of the People's Republic of Donetsk told RIA Novosti.

"We are willing to exchange [prisoners], but it is extremely difficult to rely on the decency of our opponents. They do not value their people," Denis Pushilin said.

"We are ready to exchange prisoners. Now everything depends on their decision," he said.

"For us, each person is of value," Pushilin added.

Igor Strelkov, the leader of the Slaviansk self-defense forces, earlier told RIA Novosti that their forces had captured three soldiers of the Ukrainian security forces’ Alfa unit and several radicals of the Right Sector group, who they want to exchange.

Federalization supporters in the eastern cities of Kharkiv, Donetsk, Gorlovka, Slaviansk and Kramatorsk have refused to recognize the legitimacy of the current Ukrainian government, demanding Crimea-style referendums on the status of their regions.
