LUHANSK, September 14 (RIA Novosti) - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) celebrates its city under the slogan “In the name of life!,” on Sunday.
“Times are not easy, but the people of the city are not accustomed to it, they proved themselves more than worthy. We wish you happiness, love, hope, and God’s blessing,” LPR Prime Minister, Igor Plotnitsky said, referring to the city’s locals during the festivities.
Representatives from the government and the militia of LPR take part in the celebrations along with residents who laid flowers at the foot of monuments to commemorate the city on Sunday morning. The city’s administration visited the Luhansk hospital’s maternity ward where young parents were handed a birth certificate with the symbol of LPR.
As part of the celebration of the city, a meeting will be held in dedication to the memory of the residents of Luhansk killed during the conflict between the army and Ukrainian militia. The celebration will also host a street basketball game, several events for children, and welcomed the Russian biker club the “Night Wolves” as guests. A series of exhibitions will be devoted to recent hostilities while a festive concert is scheduled to finish the city’s holiday.
