MOSCOW, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry could hold talks in Paris as early as next week, a diplomatic source told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

"Yes, they will hold a meeting, most likely next week in Paris," the source said on condition of anonymity.

US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland said earlier on Tuesday that the American side was expecting Kerry-Lavrov meeting "in near future."

On October 3, Lavrov and Kerry have discussed the situation in Ukraine in a phone conversation. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two Foreign Ministers have agreed to continue "intense contacts" for further discussions of important issues on the international and bilateral agenda.

In theri previous bilateral meeting, held on September 24 in New York, Sergei Lavrov and John Kerry have also discussed Ukraine and the importance of "full and prompt" implementation of all the aspects of the Minsk ceasefire agreement, according to the US Department of State.

Later in September, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Moscow and Washington continue to hold a "fairly stable" channel of dialogue between foreign ministers.

The relations between Russia and the United States have deteriorated amid Ukrainian crisis, as Washington kept blaming Moscow for meddling in Ukraine's internal affairs.

Over the past few months, the US has introduced several rounds of economic sanctions against Russia, and persuaded its allies to add Russian companies and individuals to their own blacklists.
