Ottawa condemned the murder of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion said on its Twitter on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was killed by a gunman at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara earlier on Monday. Three other people were also injured in the attack.

"Canada condemns in the strongest possible terms the assassination of Russia Ambassador Karlov," Dion said. "On behalf of all Canadians, I offer my most sincere condolences to Mr. Karlov’s family and friends and to the Russian people."
