Officials have confirmed the blast, but have not said anything about casualties.
According to Afghan media reports, the incident in Jalalabad was a roadside bomb explosion, which killed one civilian.
The TOLONews broadcaster reported, citing local police, that there were two separate roadside bomb blasts that hit the city's District 1.
The first explosion reportedly took place near the Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, while the second one in the Chawke-e-Talashi area.
No armed group has so far taken responsibility for the attacks.
Afghanistan is still witnessing the confrontation between the government forces supported by the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission forces and the Taliban movement whose militia groups control large rural Afghan territories.
Last September in Doha the parties started peaceful negotiations.
