On Thursday, Russian and Ukrainian delegations held a second round of talks in Belarus which resulted in an agreement to jointly organise humanitarian corridors to ensure evacuation of civilians and deliveries of food and medicines. Also, the sides agreed to continue negotiations as soon as possible.
After Russia's special military operation in Ukraine entered its second week on 3 March, Russian President Vladimir Putin held another meeting with the Security Council members to say that the operation was going according to plan and all tasks were being implemented successfully.
Putin repeatedly stressed that the Russian army was doing everything possible to prevent civilian casualties and was targeting only military infrastructure.
On 24 February Russia started a special military operation in Ukraine to protect civilians in the Donbass People's Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, whose authorities appealed to Moscow for assistance following repeated shelling of their territories by Ukrainian forces. President Putin explained that a key goal of the operation is to "demilitarise and de-Nazify" Ukraine and thus eliminate a threat to Russia's national security.

Ukraine's Ex-Prime Minister Says Kiev Will Not Agree to Neutrality, Recognition of DPR, LPR
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Ukrainian authorities will not agree to the neutral status of Ukraine and the recognition of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics as the United States will not allow it, ex-Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov has told Sputnik.
"I think it is impossible, the Americans will not allow it. Of course, the Americans have achieved their main goal - a bloodshed between Russia and Ukraine has begun, and the longer this bloodshed continues, the longer the human, material, financial resources are spent on this conflict, the better for the Americans. They got opportunities, let's say, economic opportunities, causing enormous difficulties to Russia, and that is not a concern at all. So they are unlikely to allow [Volodymyr] Zelensky to make this sort of a decision," Azarov said.
According to Azarov, Zelensky is under pressure from "a number of gangs of Nazis and nationalists, the so-called radicals," who will not allow him to make any decisions.
The former prime minister said that Zelenskyy is "a puppet incapable of making his own decisions."

Brazil Has No Intentions of Censoring Russian Media, Russian Ambassador Says
MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) - Censorship of the Russian media is out of the question in Brazil as the country denies the possibility of imposing unilateral sanctions, Russian Ambassador in Brazil Alexei Labetsky has told Sputnik.
"I have not heard about any plans about blocking anything, and we assume that the Brazil'sofficial position, which has been voiced repeatedly, is that Brazil denies the very possibility of unilateral and illegal sanctions," Labetsky said.
The ambassador added that he has not experienced any issues with connection to the Russian media. However, he noted, the information war among Brazilian media against Russia can be felt.
"The rampant campaign of the Western media, which is sometimes picked up by the Brazilian media as well, is the problem of information warfare, which is really unfolding in the media space," the ambassador concluded.

Restrictions on Flights in Southern Russia Extended Until March 14 - Operator
SOCHI (Sputnik) - The restrictions on the use of airspace within the airports of southern Russia have been extended until 14 March, 00:45 GMT, the press office of the Kuban airports Aerodynamika said on Saturday.
The office added that Sochi international airport will continue to operate in the routine mode as a temporary hub.
The restrictions were introduced on 24 February due to the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. Initially, the restrictions on air traffic at airports in southern Russia were due to expire on 2 March, but were extended until 8 March, 3:45 GMT.
Last week, Russia began a special operation to demilitarize and "de-Nazify" Ukraine, responding to calls for help from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's republics in countering the aggression of Ukrainian troops. The Russian Defence Ministry said the special operation is targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure only and the civilian population is not in danger. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that it has no plans to occupy Ukraine.

Zelensky Blasts NATO Summit as 'Weak' After 'Fly Zone' Request Gets Rejected
Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video message has called the just concluded NATO summit "weak" amid the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
"A NATO summit took place today. It was a weak summit, a confused summit, a summit that shows that not everyone considers the fight for freedom in Europe the number one goal," Zelenskyy said on Friday.
Zelenskyy accused the members of the military alliance of giving Russia "the green light to start shelling Ukrainian cities and villages," adding that NATO did nothing but provided Ukraine with 50 tons of diesel fuel.

Shoigu Tells UN Chief Ukrainian Neo-Nazis Use Civilians as Human Shields
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Ukrainian nationalist and neo-Nazi battle units are using civilians as human shields in an act of brutal banditry, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Friday during a phone conversation with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
"The Russian Defense Minister drew special attention of Mr. Guterres to the fact that nationalist and neo-Nazi formations, which also include foreign mercenaries, are hiding behind civilians, using them as a 'human shield.' There is factual evidence of how they set up heavy military equipment (tanks, MLRS, artillery and mortars) in residential areas of cities, acting like brutal bandits, ignoring the threats posed by this to civilians," the ministry said in a statement.

'Un-Retweet it ASAP': State Dep't Tells US Embassies Not to Share Tweet Calling 'Nuclear Plant Attack' a 'War Crime' - CNN
The US State Department has sent an urgent message to the American embassies in Europe, calling on them to not share a tweet by the US Embassy in Kiev, which called an "attack" on the Zaporozhskaya NPP a "war crime" earlier in the day, according to the CNN, citing a message it has seen.
“All – do not/not retweet Embassy Kyiv’s tweet on shelling of the facility being a possible war crime. If you have retweeted it – un-retweet it ASAP", the message said.
Earlier in the day, US Undersecretary of Energy for Nuclear Energy Jill Hruby told MSNBC that Washington has not seen evidence that Russia attacked the nuclear reactors at the Zaporozhskaya NPP.
Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov has stressed that Kiev made an attempt to stage a provocation on the territory adjacent to the plant overnight in a bid accuse Russia of creating a source of radioactive contamination.
According to Konashenkov, at around 2 a.m. local time, a group of Russian National Guard officers patrolling the territory around the NPP were attacked by Ukrainian saboteurs who opened fire from the building of the station's training centre. Russian forces fired back and destroyed the saboteurs' combat bases. As they were leaving the building, the Ukrainian sabotage group set the building on fire.
He added that the radiation level is normal following the incident.

Russian Intelligence Service: NATO Countries Send Terrorists, Weapons to Ukraine Via Poland
Intelligence agencies of the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and several other NATO countries are using Poland as a "logistical hub," for sending weapons and transferring fighters to Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service said Friday.
"The intelligence services of NATO countries are transferring foreign terrorist fighters to Ukraine... the US and UK intelligence services in recent weeks have de facto turned Polish territory into a 'logistical hub' used to supply weapons and smuggle fighters, including from the Middle East, to Ukraine," the statement read.
According to the Russian intelligence, fighters arriving in Ukraine from the Middle East were trained at the US-controlled Al-Tanf base in Syria to be used in the Donbass conflict.
"At the end of 2021, the Americans released from prisons… several dozen ISIS terrorists [Islamic State, banned in Russia] including citizens of Russia and CIS countries. These individuals were sent to the US-controlled Al-Tanf base, where they have undergone special training in subversive and terrorist warfare methods with a focus on Donbass region," the statement added.
As the Russian intelligence said, Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine has destroyed most of these fighters, yet the US continues to form new terrorist units in the Middle East and Africa, and they are planned to be sent to Ukraine via Poland.
"The CIA and the US Army Special Operations Command continue to form new ‘ISIS fighter echelons' in the Middle East and Africa. Their transfer to participate in subversive and terrorist activities in Ukraine is planned to be carried out through the territory of Poland," the statement added.

BBC is temporarily suspending its activities in Russia and will work outside the country, BBC Director-General Tim Davie said, commenting in the Russian legislation concerning the coverage of its special operation in Ukraine.

It leaves us no other option than to temporarily suspend the work of all BBC News journalists and their support staff within the Russian Federation while we assess the full implications of this unwelcome development," he said.
The head of the BBC stressed that the corporation was not ready to expose employees "to the risk of criminal prosecution simply for doing their jobs."
"Our journalists in Ukraine and around the world will continue to report on the invasion of Ukraine," he added.

The intention is to provide that support to Ukraine, including with military assets, including the sorts of sanctions, strangulation if you like, that's the word that is being used, that we can,” she told 4BC.
Canberra will also allocate 35 million Australian dollars ($25.7 million) in humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and neighboring countries receiving refugees, the minister said.
Under the Western sanction package against Moscow, Australia has frozen a bank account with 45 million Australian dollars owned by a sanctioned Russian entity, Payne added without specifying the name of the entity.
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine last week after the breakaway Donbass republics appealed for help in defending themselves against the Ukrainian military. In response, Western nations have rolled out a massive sanctions campaign against Moscow.

Resident of Mariupol: Ukrainian Forces Did Not Give People Corridor to Leave City, Using Them as Human Shield
The Ukrainian military did not provide the residents of Mariupol with any corridors to exit the city, but used them as human shields, a city resident who managed to escape from the encirclement with his wife and underage daughter said.
"At first, they just covered themselves with a human shield, then they abandoned their people, then they began to destroy them, just smash them, destroy everything, just shoot, destroy the city. That’s all. Just destroy their civilians. And then probably tell global media that it was done by Russia and the DPR," he said.
When asked whether a humanitarian corridor was provided for civilians to leave the city, he answered in the negative.

EU Justice Ministers to Discuss Investigation of Events in Ukraine
Heads of Justice ministries of the EU member states are gathering in Brussels on Friday to discuss sanctions against Russia and coordination of probes into events in Ukraine, European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders said.
“We will have an opportunity to analyze the situation in Ukraine now, and I am sure it is important for the ministers of justice to play a role in the implementation of the sanctions but also in the fight against impunity for the crimes committed during the aggression and to organize a good coordination of all the possible investigations at the national level concerning oligarchs helping the Russian regime in such an aggression,” Reynders said ahead of the Justice and Home Affairs Council.
Russia launched an operation in Ukraine last week after the breakaway Donbass republics appealed for help in defending themselves against the Ukrainian military. The Russian Defence Ministry said the operation was solely targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure and the civilian population is not in danger.
According to the ministry, Ukrainian soldiers have voluntarily laid down arms in some parts of the country, and have been provided with medical aid and safety. Meanwhile, Ukrainian nationalists are reported to be engaged in killings, looting and robberies, Moscow said.
According to Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations office in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, the UN Council had ignored the sufferings of the Donbass people from attacks by the Ukrainian army for eight years. In addition, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow firmly denies Kiev’s accusations of war crimes in Ukraine.

NATO Plan on Ukraine Envisaged Blocking Kaliningrad With Polish Army, Ukraine's Ex-PM Says
The NATO plan for Ukraine involved the blocking of Kaliningrad with the help of the Polish army, Ukraine’s ex-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said on Friday.
"There is information that this plan was developed jointly with NATO curators, since the United States had previously transferred about 5,000 of their soldiers to Poland, plus there was also the Polish army. According to the plan, they were supposed to block the Kaliningrad group, so that it could not advance to the attacked territory of the south-east of Ukraine," Azarov said on Facebook.
According to Azarov, NATO's plan for Ukraine also provided for the blocking of peacekeepers in Transnistria by forces from the territory of Romania.
