Moscow announced a special military operation in Ukraine on 24 February, with the goal of defending Donbass residents from Kiev's aggression. Russia also said that the aim of its special operation is to demilitarise and "de-Nazify" Ukraine, and that only military infrastructure is being targeted.
In a phone conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured his Turkish counterpart that the operation has been proceeding as planned and scheduled.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin also pointed to the "particular cruelty and cynicism" of Ukrainian nationalist and neo-Nazi formations who continue to attack Donbass and use civilians, including foreigners held hostage in Ukrainian cities, as human shields.

DPR Forces Urge Ukrainian Military to Discuss Humanitarian Corridor From Mariupol
MOSCOW, March 7 (Sputnik) - The Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) is ready to discuss the creation of a humanitarian corridor from Mariupol to Novoazovsk with the Ukrainian military, deputy commander of the DPR battalion Vostok Alexander Semyonov told Sputnik on Monday.
"Men, prove yourself as worthy warriors, don't hide behind women and children. Let them go. We are ready to enter into a direct dialogue with you and provide a safe corridor towards Novoazovsk," Semyonov said, referring to the Ukrainian military in Mariupol.
Since March 4, not a single refugee has left Mariupol through humanitarian corridors, but about 500 people have managed to escape from the city on their own, according to Semyonov.
Semyonov added that the safest route for evacuation from Mariupol is a Novoazovsk humanitarian corridor, because an exit towards Zaporizhzhia, proposed by the Ukrainian authorities, is dangerous due to fighting.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Hungary will not support the expansion of anti-Russian sanctions in the energy sector as this would threaten both the national currency and welfare of Hungarians, Hungarian Finance Minister Mihaly Varga said on Monday.

The Hungarian government will not support such a move in any international fora," Varga said in a video message published on Facebook.

ICRC Says Evacuation Route in Ukraine's Mariupol Was Mined
A road designated as a humanitarian corridor out of Ukraine's Mariupol turned out to be mined, the director of operations at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Monday.

Dominik Stillhart told a BBC morning show that the ICRC was leading a convoy of displaced Ukrainian civilians out of the southern port city on Sunday. He did not say which side of the conflict was suspected of mining the route.

"Our people were leading that convoy. They arrived at the first checkpoint only to realize that the road they were supposed to take was actually mined," Stillhart said.

The health aid charity is holding conversations with Russia and Ukraine to organize military-to-military talks and agree on roads and times for evacuations, "otherwise it will be difficult... to facilitate the agreement," Stillhart added.

Canadian Province of Alberta Offers to Replace Russia as Crude Oil Supplier to US
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The authorities of the Canadian province of Alberta offered on Monday to supply oil to the United Stated amid talks of suspending the Russian oil export by the US following the special military operation in Ukraine.
"US now looking to replace Russian barrels with Venezuelan? You can’t make this stuff up - desperate times require desperate measures. A reminder of the folly of energy policy over the past decade. Canada, with the 3rd largest reserves, could have supplied the US and the world," Alberta Energy Minister Sonya Savage wrote on Twitter.
Alberta Prime Minister Jason Kenney also accused Iran and Venezuela of violating human rights, amid reports that the US may lift sanctions on oil "from the Iranian and Venezuelan dictatorships." According to him, the US and Canada should also discuss the lifting of the ban on the Canadian pipeline Keystone XL.

"Alberta would be delighted to welcome such a visit from [US] President Joe Biden. We could discuss how to ship nearly 1 million barrels of day of responsibly produced energy every day from the USA’s closest friend and ally! All it would take is his approval for Keystone XL. Easy," Kenney wrote on Twitter.

On Sunday, US State Secretary Antony Blinken said that the US and the European Union were exploring the possibility of banning the import of Russian oil and energy products.

Kiev's Attempts to Sabotage Evacuation 'Pointless', as Russian Military Will Use Drones to Control Process - MoD
Russia will monitor and control the evacuation of civilians during the ceasefire from the cities of Ukraine with the help of drones, the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine said in a statement.

"Therefore, we warn that all attempts by the Ukrainian side to once again deceive Russia and the entire civilised world in disrupting the humanitarian operation, allegedly through the fault of Russia, this time around are useless and pointless," the statement said. "We are waiting for concrete actions from the official Kiev authorities, as well as from the leadership of the cities listed," the headquarters points out.

The humanitarian corridors will be opened for residents of Kiev, Kharkov, Mariupol, and Sumy at 07:00 GMT.
