The World Trade Organization (WTO) has mostly approved Japan's complaint over a safeguard levy that targeted Indian steel imports for two-and-a-half years, according to a ruling released Tuesday.

According to the decision, India had been requested to take certain corrective measures to what it felt was the breaching of WTO laws by the state.
However, it also emphasized that the disputed levies terminated in March this year, and therefore, the corrective measures were required to impose potential levies on steel imports retroactively.
Earlier, India, as well as other states, has also initiated numerous disputes against the US tariff policies within the WTO.
