There are several reasons why a horse is met by a group with aggression. The first reason is the already-established hierarchy: all the horses in the group know exactly who obeys whom.
The second reason is that horses tend to protect their territory. Most often, the territory for a horse is not a certain piece of land, but a small space around the herd.
