Minakov was initially set to take on another US fighter - Javy Ayala, however, the latter refused to meet the Russian fighter just hours prior to the bout without specifying the reason.

Russian MMA fighter Vitaly Minakov has knocked out his opponent, US fighter Timothy Johnson during the Bellator 225 tournament in Bridgeport.

To date, Minakov has 22 victories with only one loss, while Johnson has a record of 12 wins out of 18 fights.
