An ordinary Sunday service at an-as-yet-unidentified church recently yielded somewhat unexpected consequences when one observant parishioner paid closer attention to one of the stained glass windows and noticed something peculiar.
The scene depicted on the glass appears to portray the Virgin Mary holding Jesus in her arms following the crucifixion.
However, the image’s shading makes it look like an oblong object is sticking out of Jesus’ robes, leading one person to wonder aloud on Twitter “What, exactly..., is Mary holding ??”
And once other social media users caught wind of this story, hilarity ensued.
Some came up with religious-themed puns.
And at least one person pointed at yet another potentially suspicious image.
