A lightning bolt hitting a passenger plane was caught on footage by a CCTV cam in the British city of Birmingham. The incident occurred soon after an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin took off from Birmingham Airport.
According to a Birmingham Airport spokesman, the plane was out of peril and lsuccessfully landed in Dublin later in the day.
"Aircraft are designed to withstand lightning strikes by using static wicks which allow the electricity to pass back into the air from the fuselage".
