Land of Republican Views

The 2020 Republican National Convention kicked off the first part of its four-night special Monday, offering viewers a shifted view of current events and painting US President Donald Trump as a leader who has aggressively handled the COVID-19 outbreaks in the Land of the Free.

The first night of the convention made the case that Democrats and the World Health Organization downplayed the threat of the coronavirus, completely tiptoeing around the fact that Trump has done the same and repeatedly stated that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, would simply “disappear.”

At present, more than 5.7 million COVID-19 cases have been documented in the US, and nearly 180,000 Americans have died following infection, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.

Other arguments made at the convention included claims that under the Trump administration, the US unemployment rate had hit historic lows, despite the fact that the pandemic saw millions of individuals lose their jobs.

Buckle in folks, get ready for round two -  the “Land of Opportunity.”
