Pink Eyes & Houseflies

Nothing captured American’s attention more during the vice-presidential debate on Wednesday than US Vice President Mike Pence’s noticeably red eye and the massive housefly that landed on his head, as he answered questions and responded to his Democratic challenger, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).

In contrast to the audience-shocking chaos of the September 29 debate between US President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, the faceoff between Pence and Harris remained civil overall.

However, policy issues during the debate took a backseat once again, all thanks to Pence’s possible raging case of pink eye and the housefly that landed on his head for some two minutes during the event.

Poor Pence’s condition seemed appropriate to the current aura inside the White House, as the COVID-19 coronavirus plagues the president and many members of his staff.

Still, the phrase “to be a fly on the wall” has never seemed funnier or more appropriate.
