Stop the Steal: Trump Supporters Call for Vote Recounts as They Rally Across US

Sputnik

Several days after the polls closed for American voters, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden was projected the winner in the 2020 presidential election. His Republican rival, incumbent President Donald Trump, however, has denounced it, instead claiming his own victory with "71 million legal votes".

While the official results of the US presidential election are not out yet, a number of world leaders and politicians have already congratulated Biden. All major US media outlets have also declared him the winner.

Hours after the US media proclaimed Biden the winner, hundreds of Trump supporters took to the square in front of the Oregon Capitol to challenge the legitimacy of the election and demand a recount, echoing the incumbent's allegations of massive voter fraud "stealing his victory".
