Alligators also live in Alabama, Georgia, Texas, North and South Carolina, Louisiana , Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and even Virginia, far to the north, and several of them were seen in the western part of Tennessee. Their total population in the United States is estimated at about 5 million individuals; 1.25 million of them are in Florida.
