The Spanish Canary island of La Palma has been rocked by a volcanic eruption.
Videos have emerged online, showing plumes of black and white smoke rising into the sky above the island.
According to certain reports, the area around the volcano has started to be evacuated.
The Spanish Prime Minister has postponed his trip to the United States and will go to the Canary Islands, his cabinet's press service said.
Meanwhile, the country's airline companies have been recommended to suspend flights to the three Canary islands because of the volcanic eruption on La Palma.
"In light of the situation on La Palma island, the head of government has postponed the trip to New York that was scheduled for today and will go to the Canary Islands this evening to monitor the situation," the government said in a statement.
Earlier this week, numerous earthquakes were registered near the Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge.
