Former US President Bill Clinton was released from the University of California Irvine Medical Center around 8 a.m. local time after undergoing treatment for an infection. Clinton was treated for a blood infection with intravenous antibiotics.
The former president was admitted to the hospital on 15 October. His spokesperson, Angel Urena, assured that the ex-POTUS was "on the mend" and in "good spirits". He later clarified that Clinton had suffered from a urological infection that later spread into his bloodstream, resulting in sepsis. The ex-president, however, did not go into septic shock or experience other life-threatening conditions.
Urena added on 16 October that Clinton's health indicators were "trending in the right direction", but noted that the president would have to stay for one more night in hospital.
In the past, Bill Clinton, who is now 75, has been admitted to hospitals couple of times to treat heart-related conditions – once to undergo a quadruple bypass surgery in 2001 and then to have stents implanted in a coronary artery in 2010. He was also admitted to hospital in 2005 with a partially collapsed lung.
