A 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit the Kingdom of Tonga in Oceania on Sunday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
Tremors were recorded at a depth of 180 kilometres, 51 kilometres from the country's capital, Nuku'alofa.
There have been no reports yet of possible damage or victims.
The submarine volcano Hunga Tonga–Hunga Ha'apai violently erupted on 14 January, causing a tsunami, as a result of which the Tongatapu islands, Nuku'alofa, and some of the country's resorts and settlements in the western part of the island were badly damaged. A total of three people died, according to reports.
The eruption also triggered a series of strong earthquakes, which ruptured the single, undersea fibre-optic cable that connects Tonga to the rest of the world.
