Six people are dead and 10 in critical condition after a car ploughed into a crowd in the Belgian settlement of Strépy-Bracquegnies on Sunday, according to media reports. In total, there were 26 injured as a result of the incident.
According to the local mayor, one of the deceased is a child.
"A car drove from the back at high speed. We have a few dozen injured and unfortunately several people who are killed... There are no words for this, it is horrible. I arrived shortly after the disaster. Seeing those bodies scattered on the road. You cannot imagine that something like this can happen here and yet it happened", La Louvière Mayor Jacques Gobert said.

“What should have been a great party turned into a tragedy,” said Belgian Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden.
The driver of the car and a passenger, who were born in 1988 and 1990 respectively, were arrested following the crash.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the tragedy. According to the prosecution, there were no signs of a terror motive in the incident.
