Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis beat his own record, clearing 6.20 metres at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade on Sunday.
Armand Duplantis set his own indoor pole vault world record at the Serbian Open Indoor Meeting earlier in March, reaching a height of 6.19 meters, improving his own previous 2020 record by a centimeter.
The 22-year-old jumper has dominated the international level in the past few years, winning an Olympic title, but taking second place at the 2019 World Cup after American athlete Sam Kendricks.
Duplantis was said to be disappointed in his attempts to achieve latest record, as while he had been showing impressive results at practice, he had failed to win gold in competitions for the last two years. The result of 6.20 has set a record in men's pole vault, where all jumps above six meters are considered a big achievement.
