Prince William is worried that any conversations he might have with his brother, Prince Harry, during the Jubilee celebrations in the UK may find their way into Harry's Netflix documentaries, according to insiders cited by British daily tabloid, The Sun.
The Duke of Cambridge, 40, is reportedly “wary” about his brother's decision to join the weekend celebrations with his wife, Meghan Markle, 40, and their children.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are no longer working royals since stepping down officially on 31 March 2020 to build a new life for themselves with their children, Alfie, three, and Lilibet, 11 months, in California, said on Friday that they are planning to travel to the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
On 6 February,
Queen Elizabeth II became the first British Monarch to celebrate the unprecedented 70-year anniversary and on 2 June will celebrate the 69th anniversary of her coronation.
Although events and initiatives are taking place throughout the year, the main events take place over a four-day UK bank holiday weekend from 2 to 5 June.
Although the couple will not be allowed to join the 96-year-old monarch on Buckingham Palace's balcony for Trooping the Colour, on 2 June, they will have an opportunity to attend some of the weekend's events.
The two brothers,
Prince Harry and Prince William, last saw each other in July, for the unveiling of a Kensington Palace statue in memory of their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
At the time, a “furious” Duke of Cambridge reportedly did not want to attend the event after the bombshell claims made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in their sit-down with American TV host Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, according to sources.
Both Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, made explosive claims during that blockbuster
interview with Oprah Winfrey, including that an unidentified member of the Royal Family allegedly speculated about “how dark” the couple’s firstborn might be, in a reference to Archie.
Furthermore, the Duke of Sussex accused his father, Charles, Prince of Wales, of “cutting me off financially”.
A succession of other “revelations” aired in documentaries and interviews have left Buckingham Palace reeling. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have since secured multi-million-dollar
deals with Netflix and Spotify to produce their own documentary series and podcasts.
Furthermore, palace aides are reportedly concerned that as a Netflix film crew follows the couple around, they might “exploit” the Jubilee proceedings.
Accordingly, aides are reportedly planning to prevent the Netflix crew from filming in Royal properties including Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle during Jubilee events.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK risks becoming the “focus” of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee events, warned royal experts.
