Harvey Weinstein will be charged with two counts of indecent assault against a woman in the UK, prosecutors revealed on Wednesday.
The incidents in question took place in August 1996.
"Charges have been authorised against Harvey Weinstein, 70, following a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation," the Crown Prosecution Service said in a statement, reminding that the defendant has the right to a fair trial.
The prosecutors highlighted that it is "extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
The alleged victim is said to be in her 50s now.
Weinstein, who is currently aged 70, is serving his 23-year sentence in a California prison, awaiting another trial for alleged sexual assault against five women.
