Fire brigages are battling a blaze on the 12th floor of a block of flats in Shepherd's Bush in western London, close to Grenfell Tower where the deadly fire killed 72 people five years ago.
According to London Fire Brigade, eight fire trucks were deployed to the scene on Queensdale Crescent where half of the a flat was alight.
The incident occurred around 9.20am on Tuesday and was under control as of 10.55am. The cause of the fire is yet unknown.
“Firefighters dealt with a fire on the 12th floor of a tower block in W11. Three people from the affected flat left before the brigade arrived. A number of other residents evacuated the building...Firefighters led six residents to safety via an internal staircase. Further residents who were not affected by fire, heat or smoke were advised to remain in their flats," Station commander David Bracewell said, quoted by the Guardian.
A number of patients were treated at the scene, London ambulance service said.
The building where the fire has broken out is located within a 15-minute walk from Grenfell Tower, where a huge blaze killed 72 people and left more than 70 others injured five years ago.
