Over 50 people have resigned from their government posts amid the scandal rocking Downing Street. The avalanche of resignations began with two of Boris Johnson's most senior ministers – Health Secretary Sajid Javid and Chancellor Rishi Sunak -stepping down on Tuesday amid fallout from No 10’s handling of allegations of sexual misconduct by ex-deputy chief whip Chris Pincher.
Boris Johnson embarked upon a speedy cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday night to fill growing vacancies in his cabinet. Despite the opposition and and his own cabinet ministers purportedly telling Johnson it was time to call it quits, he remains "absolutely defiant" and "does not intend to resign", a senior Number 10 source was cited as telling media. A source added that Johnson had every intention to "fight on".
