Kenya's Deputy President William Ruto won the country's presidential election after receiving 50.49% of the vote against the 48.85% earned by his rival, ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The election results have sparked mass protests among Odinga's supporters, who took to the streets of Nairobi to voice their anger over the election outcome. Some of them behaved aggressively, throwing stones and setting fire to tires.
If Odinga does not appeal the results in the Supreme Court, Ruto will take the oath of office in two weeks' time, becoming Kenya's fifth president since the country declared independence from Britain in 1963.
