England advanced in the World Cup quarterfinals for a second tournament in a row after they swept past Senegal with a 3-0 victory. Three goals were scored by Jordan Henderson (38th minute), Harry Kane (45+3), and Bukayo Saka (57) defeating the Lions of Teranda at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar.
Kane's goal was his 11th for England at a major tournament and the most by any Three Lions player in history. The team's advancement into the quarterfinals is giving fans a glimmer of hope as England was able to reach the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup and the final of UEFA Euro in 2020, but have yet to win a title in 56 years.
Earlier on Sunday, France beat Poland 3-1 at the Al-Thumama stadium, during which French footballer Kylian Mbappé scored two goals.
England will now face off against France in the quarterfinals next Saturday.
