A gunman opened fire on local police officers, injuring several of them, at about 6:30 a.m. [12:30 p.m. GMT] in US town of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, FOX43 reported.
The injured were reportedly transferred to a local hospital, with information on the exact number of those wounded in the attack not available at the moment.
According to the media outlet PennLive, the suspected gunman is in a building, where police officers served a warrant, in the area of South 18th and Mulberry streets.
District Attorney Fran Chardo stated, as quoted by media, that the injured policemen were transferred to a local hospital. There is still no information as to whether the suspected culprit has been taken into custody.
According to PennLive, this is the second shooting in the area in a month, with 51-year-old Ahmed Aminamin El-Mofty shot and killed by police after shooting at officers around Harrisburg days before Christmas.
A press conference on the shooting is scheduled to take place later in the day.
