"We have serious concerns over the US administration’s decision to withdraw from the JCPOA as it is a severe violation of the UN Security Council resolution 2231," Lavrov said at a press conference, suggesting that attempts to reimpose sanctions in the Security Council will undermine the situation on the Middle East.

The Russian foreign minister said it was unreasonable to ignore interests of Tehran and it's partners. He underlined, that regardless of US unilateral sanctions, the lifting of the UNSC sanctions could not be revised.

"Speaking of the US unilateral sanctions, we could not do anything about it. However, it does not apply to the lifting of the UNSC sanctions as this decision could not be revisited," Lavrov said following the talks with his German counterpart Heiko Maas in Moscow.

Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas noted a crucial importance of preserving the nuclear deal, confirming that the German stance on the issue also remains the same.

"It is very important to ensure the compliance with this agreement. It is of vital importance for us and for our partners in France and the United Kingdom that Iran continues to fully comply with the existing restrictions and commitments, that Iran remains a party to the agreement," Maas stated. The minister added that he had discussed further steps on this case with Sergei Lavrov.

The minister noted that he had discussed further steps on this issue with Lavrov.

"We have also discussed to which extent the Russian government can have an influence Iran on this issue… We share the belief that we must find ways to preserve this agreement," Maas added.

In the meantime, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, that Trump's decision on the nuclear deal contains hidden protectionism and violates WTO Regulations.

"In fact, we are talking about veiled protectionism, and we are talking about steps that are certainly absolutely contrary to the norms and rules of the World Trade Organization," he said.

Previously, Russian Foreign Ministry expressed on Tuesday its regret over the US decision to withdraw from the JCPOA (The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), also known as Iranian nuclear deal, adding that Moscow was open for further cooperation with other JCPOA parties.
