Following the intercepted attack, the Houthi militants stated, as quoted by al Masirah TV channel, that they were targeting the Saudi Defense Ministry's data center and a number of other objects with their missile.
Previously, Reuters reported, citing local witnesses, that several loud blasts were heard in Saudi Arabia's capital, with bright flashes seen in the sky.
Some Twitter users shared videos allegedly depicting the flashes. However, their veracity has not been confirmed.
Earlier this week, the Saudi Press Agency blamed Houthi militants for firing missiles aimed at the Saudi port city of Jizan from the northern Yemeni Saada province, Sputnik International News reported. The area has been repeatedly shelled by militants.

The attacks took place amid intensified fighting between the Saudi-led coalition and Houthi forces in Yemen, with Saudi Arabian and UAE warplanes initiating an offensive aimed at retaking the port city of al-Hudaydah. Considering the port to be crucial for Yemen to import basic goods like food, human rights advocates such as the World Health Organization, called on all parties in the conflict to ensure that the port is able to continue operating.
