FBI Arrests Four Russian Citizens on Money Laundering Charges - Consulate

The Russian Consulate General has sent an inquiry to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to get an access to the arrested Russian citizens.

"We sent the request to the FBI asking to gain consular access to the detained Russians and to get information on their lawyers," Consulate General press secretary Alexey Topolsky told Sputnik on Monday.

The time period for the reply is regulated by the agreement between the countries — three days, according to the press secretary. This is the time frame in which the access should be granted, at the discretion of the US authorities.

"Between August 1 and 3, the New York branch of Federal Bureau of Investigation detained four Russian citizens over suspicion of money laundering and conspiracy to commit fraud," the Consulate General said on Twitter.

One suspect was detained in Boston and transferred to New York, two others are in Los Angeles. The location of the fourth one remains unclear, according to the Consulate General.
