"The communication system of Air Traffic Control is stable again. Air traffic is being restarted. It will take some time before the situation at our airport is running as normal again," the airport said on its Twitter page.
Earlier in the day, the airport said that the problem with the air traffic control systems resulted in a temporary suspension of incoming and outgoing flight traffic.
"We're currently experiencing a communications shutdown, which means there is no Air Traffic Control at the moment. We don't know what went wrong exactly and we also don't know when the issue will be fixed," the statement issued by the airport says.
According to Dutch air traffic control, technical problems with communications occurred between pilots and traffic controllers. The agency also noted that further arriving flights weren't being admitted to Dutch airspace at that time.
Dutch air traffic control further said that it was deploying extra staff to tackle the problem. The investigation into the communication failure has already been launched.
