"A stabbing attack took place on Friday afternoon at the Central Station in Amsterdam. At least two people were injured. The police have shot the suspect. The suspect and the two casualties of the stabbing incident were transferred to a hospital for treatment," the police said in a statement.
The police added that the movement of trains was partially stopped, however, there are no plans to evacuate the station.
Local media reported citing witnesses that the incident had started with a fight between two people on the platform of the station. During the scuffle, one of the men took out a knife.
The victims have been taken to hospital, as has the suspect that was shot.

Amsterdam's Central Railway Station is a busy location for visitors of the Dutch capital, with frequently passing trains connecting it to the city's Schiphol Airport.
Friday is one of the most hectic days of the week, with lots of people arriving at the station.
