Around midnight, a man wounded a police officer from a firearm. Moscow police has quickly launched an investigation into the deadly assault. According to the earlier statement, Moscow law enforcement imposed its 'Siren' mode to find the alleged perpetrator.
The siren mode triggers the urgent mobilization of the entire police force in a particular area with a tightening of security measures and is applied only for the identification and arrest of dangerous criminals.
Hours later, Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk said that the suspect has been detained. "Moscow police has detained a suspect in causing a fatal wound to a police officer at Kurskaya metro station," the spokeswoman said, adding that the alleged perpetrator is currently being taken to the police department for further investigation, Volk added.
