Love is in the Air: Trump Says He 'Fell in Love' With Kim Jong-un (VIDEO)

“He wrote me beautiful letters and they were great letters,” said Donald Trump at a rally in West Virginia on Saturday referring to the North Korean leader.

Addressing his supporters at the campaign rally, the US president, speaking about a number of issues in politics, made a startling revelation. Mr. Trump admitted he and Kim Jong-un have fallen in love.

"I like him, he likes me. I guess that's okay. Am I allowed to say that?" Donald Trump said. "We fell in love, ok?"

Trump Says World Respects US Again
However, Trump joked about the criticism he would likely get following this statement. "Now they'll say, 'Donald Trump said they fell in love. How horrible is that? So unpresidential.' And I always tell you, it's so easy to be presidential," Trump said.

"Why has President Trump given up so much?" Trump further added. "I didn't give up anything."

Trump’s comment was kind of prophetic as Twitter was stormed by a wave of angry comments mocking the US president for confessing his love for the North Korean dictator.

Some internet users, however, took the statement with humor:

"Love" Letters and Complicated Relations

The situation on the Korean Peninsula has significantly improved over the last few months but the situation remains complicated.

On June 12, Trump and Kim met in Singapore, where they reached an agreement that stipulates North Korea will denuclearize in exchange for a freeze of US-South Korean military drills and potential sanctions relief. No concrete timeframe was announced for achieving these goals. And there is no progress for now.

'Not Making Sufficient Progress': Trump Cancels Pompeo’s Visit to North Korea
Earlier this week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the second US-North Korea high-level summit is more likely to happen after October.

And on September 29, speaking at the UN General Assembly, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho said that the DPRK rejected unilateral disarmament amid the lack of trust in the United States.

"Without any trust in the US, there will be no confidence in our national security, and in such circumstances, we will never be the first ones to disarm unilaterally," Ri said.

Meanwhile, earlier in the month it was reported that US President Trump received a couple letters from Kim Jong-un. The first one was brought by Mike Pompeo in the beginning of September. The second one – “a very warm, a very positive letter” – was received later.

"The President has received the letter from Kim Jong Un. It was a very warm, very positive letter," White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on September 10. "The primary purpose of the letter was to request and look to schedule another meeting with the President, which we are open to and are already in the process of coordinating that."
