An officer has been injured overnight in Leicester after being "deliberately" driven at by a car which then left the scene, Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit stated on Twitter.
According to Leicestershire Police's Deputy Chief Constable Rob Nixon, the incident took place in the early hours of Friday; an armed police officer was rushed to hospital with head injuries after he was "deliberately driven at" in Leicester city center.
Following reports of the incident, police have launched a massive operation to find those responsible and blocked off at least three Leicester roads, including Belvoir Street in the center of the city.
According to the Leicester Mercury daily, two young men were removed from a Spinney Hills property by police at gunpoint on Friday morning in relation with the incident.
