London's Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command said police were called to an address in Craven Park, Harlesden, at 9.34am on Wednesday in response to reports of two suspicious devices found in an unoccupied flat, which was in the process of being refurbished.
"Officers attended the address and as a precaution, the block of flats was evacuated and local road closures put in place whilst specialist officers assessed the two devices. Initial assessment was that they were both improvised explosive devices," said the Met.
The devices were recovered from the scene and are now undergoing further forensic examination.
A 48-year-old man was arrested at an address in north London on Thursday, November 22, on suspicion of an offence contrary to Section 4 of the Explosives Substances Act 1883.
Man Being Questioned By Detectives
He was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.
"At this early stage of the investigation, detectives do not believe that the arrested man has links to any terrorist organisations, or that there are any ongoing public safety issues," said the police on Thursday, November 22.
They said their initial assessment was that they were both improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Residents were allowed to return to their homes at 6pm on Wednesday, November 21.
