RIA Novosti Ukraine head Kirill Vyshinsky has revealed details of his trial and spoken about the charges brought against him by the Kiev authorities. The interview was uploaded by the Uspishna Varta news outlet.
The interview comes as a court in the Ukrainian city of Kherson on 11 December decided to leave the journalist in custody until December 28, despite repeated appeals by the defence. Given the charges, including suspicion of supporting the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as treason, the journalist could face up to 15 years in prison.
His detention has provoked widespread condemnation by journalists' rights groups, who have said that such actions are unacceptable in a democratic society.
