According to Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya, at least two people died and six more injured due to the building’s collapse.
At the moment there is no official data about the causes of the incident, however, the broadcaster reported earlier that some witnesses heard a sound similar to a blast before the events.
The authorities, addressing the reports, have ruled out the possibility that the collapse could have been caused by an explosion.
Police and firefighters are at the scene of the incident, trying to clear the debris in search of potential victims.
