The 61st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on 10 February, took an unexpected turn when none other than Michele Obama herself made a surprise appearance at the event.
The former US first lady joined host Alicia Keyes on stage during the latter’s opening monologue, along with Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jennifer Lopez.
"For me, a big part of friendship is showing up for your girls—whether that’s for a birthday, a quick catch-up after work, or a major milestone," Michelle Obama wrote on her Instagram page where she posted a photo of herself posing with the ladies.
Reacting to this development, many social media users heaped praise on Michelle, with some wondering whether she might run for president in 2020.
However, it appears that not everyone was thrilled by her appearance.
