An Atlas Air Inc. cargo jet with at least three people on board has crashed into Trinity Bay near Anahuac, Texas, Federal Aviation Administration said on Saturday.
FAA reported that its investigators were on their way to the site of the twin-engine Boeing 767 crash, adding that the National Transportation Safety Board would be in charge of the investigation.
The cargo jet was reportedly carrying Amazon deliveries and travelling from Miami to Houston. Tracking data from FlightAware.com revealed that the plane made a steep descent from 6,525ft to 3,025ft in 30 seconds; one of the witnesses told media that the jet "went in nose first" and disintegrated.
