US President Donald Trump and North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un are set to meet in Hanoi on 27-28 February. Their first historic summit in 2018 ended up with a four-point declaration that paved the way toward renewed bilateral relations and the de-nuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

The North Korean leader is reportedly accompanied by Deputy Chair of the North Korean Workers' Party's central committee Kim Yong Chol, who is in charge of nuclear talks with the United States; Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho; director of the international affairs department of the Supreme People's Assembly Ri Su Yong; and Defence Minister No Kwang Chol.

Prior to the meeting, Trump announced during a meeting with US governors at the White House that he expected to make further progress on de-nuclearising the Korean Peninsula during his second summit with the North Korean leader.

Hundreds of people, many of whom were families with children, gathered along the Do Duc Duc road to welcome the US president.

As the president's motorcade passed by, many of them shouted greetings and started taking pictures. Local students stood at the very front, waving the US, North Korean and Vietnamese flags.
