Twenty firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the fire that had engulfed the church, which was completed in the 19th century, the French BFMTV reported Sunday.
Witnesses turned to the social media to share their footage of the inferno.
Following the incident, several people were evacuated from the church. According to preliminary data reported by BFMTV French television, fatalities and injuries were prevented thanks to the efforts of the firefighters.
What caused the blaze remains unclear.
