Office of the President of Argentina Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat - Report

The Casa Rosada, the executive mansion and office of the president of Argentina in Buenos Aires, was completely evacuated at about 2:00 p.m. local time (5 p.m. GMT) due to a bomb threat. The palace was evacuated as a precaution while police carry out an investigation to determine the veracity of the threat.

Another alert due to an alleged bomb threat was raised in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies while a wake for late Deputy Hector Olivares was taking place in the lower House of Congress, according to local media reports. The bomb disposal brigade and police promptly arrived at the scene.

According to preliminary information, a phone call was made to issue the bomb threat.

Earlier in the day, security personnel at the Casa Rosada arrested an Argentine citizen with a briefcase that contained a revolver, reports say. The man went to the office of the president of Argentina and reportedly said that he had a scheduled visit with President Mauricio Macri.
