Police Dogs Find No Hazardous Objects at Sputnik HQ in Moscow After Bomb Call

Police detection dogs who were sent into Rossiya Segodnya International News Agency's Moscow building after an anonymous bomb threat call did not sniff out any explosives, the agency's press service said Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, a hoax call prompted law enforcement agents to search the agency's massive Zubovsky Boulevard headquarters for explosive devices. An initial check did not reveal anything, after which detection dogs were sent in.

"Cynologists and their detection dogs did not find anything," the agency's press service stated.

A new wave of bomb threat scams has been sweeping Russia since January. Emergency services have had to respond to hoax phone calls and emails about explosives at schools, clinics, shopping malls, and administrative buildings in the country's western regions and as far as the Pacific coast.

The bomb scare resembles that of September 2017 when public buildings in 75 out of 85 Russian regions were targeted, prompting the evacuation of almost 2 million people and costing millions of dollars.
