The shooting was confirmed via Twitter by Toronto Police. Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said Monday evening said four people had been shot and suffered "non-life-threatening injuries." A total of two firearms have been recovered and three persons have been taken into custody.
According to Sports Net, the incident unfolded at roughly 4 p.m. local time as speeches were being given. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in attendance and reportedly remained seated along with players and personnel from the basketball team.
Footage shared on social media shows hundreds of individuals running to safety. Estimates indicate roughly 2 million fans were expected to attend the parade.
