German Chancellor Angela Merkel sat down at a ceremony to welcome Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Berlin on Thursday. The Danish PM sat next to the German chancellor during the welcoming ceremony with military honours. The two officials took a seat despite the existing protocol for such an occasion.

Merkel's well-being recently came into the media spotlight after the sixty-four-year-old politician experienced three episodes in which her body appeared to visibly tremble over less than a month.

The first shaking bout took place while Merkel was receiving the new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on 18 June. Another trembling episode occurred just days later when she attended an official ceremony to appoint a new justice minister in Berlin.

Merkel's condition once again manifested itself yesterday while she was receiving Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne in Berlin.

The chancellor herself has repeatedly brushed off the concerns over her health saying that the trembling was caused by dehydration while her office assured that the chancellor felt well.

The newspaper Bild Zeitung recently reported that Merkel had her blood tested following the first attack to find out if she lacked certain minerals. The examination reportedly revealed that the chancellor's blood levels were normal.
