According to AP, Robert F. Kennedy's assassin was hospitalized in stable condition after being stabbed by another inmate at Richard. J. Donovan Correctional Facility in California.

TMZ broke the news earlier in the day, saying that the suspect in the assault on Sirhan had been identified and was placed in isolation.

According to TMZ, citing sources, Sirhan was assaulted Friday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. local time in one of the prison yards. The motives of the attack remain unknown. Local officials have reportedly launched an investigation into the incident.

Sirhan was convicted of the shooting death of Robert F. Kennedy immediately after the New York Senator declared victory in the 1968 California Democratic presidential primary. Sirhan was sentenced to death, but three years later his sentence was changed to life in prison.
