Nine People Dead After Small Plane Crashes Into Resort Area in Philippines - Video

According to an official from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, a light plane on a flight from the southern city of Dipolog to Manila suddenly disappeared from the radar without explanation.

Nine people have been killed after a small plane crashed in a resort area in Pansol village in Laguna province, south of Manila, The Manila Times reported, citing authorities.

The police said that the crew included two pilots, two nurses, a doctor, a patient, the patient's wife and two other people; all bodies have been retrieved from the wreckage.

According to the officials, the aircraft exploded upon impact and firefighters rushed to deal with the flames.

Following the crash, a woman and her son, who oversee the resort were rushed to a hospital in the nearby city, Calamba.

Civil Aviation Authority official, Eric Apolonio said that a light plane that was on a medical evacuation mission in the same area disappeared from radar at the same time the small aircraft crashed in Laguna.

The crash occurred during the monsoon season when the resorts are not as busy as during the hot summer season that ends in June.
